A good trip plan starts before pickup
Transportation support works best when the destination, appointment time, mobility needs, authorized service, and return-trip plan are clear. Availability can depend on location, schedule, staffing, vehicle needs, and program rules.
Non-emergency transportation is not an ambulance or emergency response service. Call 911 when a person needs immediate medical help.
Information to confirm
- Pickup and destination addresses
- Appointment time and desired arrival window
- Whether a return trip or wait time is needed
- Mobility device, transfer, or accompaniment needs
- Waiver authorization or payer information, when applicable
Ask about the whole trip
Before scheduling, ask what the driver can and cannot assist with, how changes or cancellations are handled, and whom to call if an appointment runs late. For DODD HPC Transportation, the trip must align with the person's authorization and plan.
