Make the first referral conversation efficient.
Referral partners often need to understand service fit, timing, location, and the appropriate next step without sending unnecessary private information through an unsecure channel. A short, accurate initial conversation helps identify whether A&A may be a potential fit and how to continue appropriately.
Information that is useful at the start
- The general service need being explored.
- The person’s general location.
- Timing considerations and the best referral contact.
- Whether a physician, payer, county board, waiver, or care coordinator is already involved.
- The secure channel that should be used if additional information is appropriate.
Do not send protected health information through the public contact form or normal email. A&A can help direct partners to the appropriate next step.
Questions to clarify early
Referral sources can ask about current service fit, required referral or authorization steps, general timing expectations, and who should receive follow-up. Availability and eligibility should never be assumed from a website page alone.
Keep the person informed
When appropriate, explain to the individual and family what will happen next and who may contact them. Clear expectations reduce confusion and make the referral experience more respectful.
Need to talk through your situation?
A&A can discuss the type of support you are exploring and explain the next practical question. Please do not send private health information through the public website form.
